Our Vision

Restoring the Soul of Mathematics Education

We believe mathematics is not merely a tool for calculation — it is humanity's greatest intellectual achievement, a window into the structure of reality, and a source of profound beauty and joy.

Why Math History Matters

For centuries, mathematics was taught as a living discipline — students read Euclid's Elements, followed Euler's reasoning, and understood Newton's methods as they were originally conceived. Mathematics was inseparable from its history, philosophy, and the brilliant minds who developed it.

Modern math education has largely abandoned this tradition. Students learn procedures without understanding their origins. They memorize formulas without knowing who discovered them or why they matter. The result? A generation of students who can compute but cannot reason — who pass tests but never experience the thrill of mathematical discovery.

The Counting to Calculus approach restores what was lost. By teaching mathematics through its historical development — from Euclid's axioms to Euler's analysis to modern applications — we give students not just skills, but understanding. Not just answers, but the ability to ask the right questions.

The "From Euler" Methodology

1

Original Sources

We teach from the actual reasoning of history's greatest mathematicians — not simplified textbook summaries.

2

Logical Progression

Concepts are introduced in the order they were historically discovered, building naturally from simple to complex.

3

Proof & Understanding

Students don't just learn what is true — they learn why it must be true, developing rigorous logical thinking.

4

Philosophy of Mathematics

We explore what mathematics is, why it works, and what it reveals about the nature of reality and truth.

Meet the Founder

Amos Tarfa

AT

Founder & Lead Instructor

Amos Tarfa is a Medical Physicist, mathematician, and curriculum writer who founded LIFE Academy and the Counting to Calculus program with a singular vision: to help students master mathematics from counting to calculus while integrating the rich history and philosophy that gives mathematics its meaning.

With a background spanning physics, mathematics, and education, Amos brings a unique perspective to math instruction. His approach draws on the original works of Euler, Newton, and Euclid — teaching mathematics the way it was discovered, not merely the way it has been simplified for modern textbooks.

As a Christian educator influenced by thinkers like Dr. Stephen Meyer and Dr. John Lennox, Amos sees mathematics as a window into the rational structure of the universe — a discipline that reveals truth, cultivates wonder, and develops the mind's capacity for rigorous reasoning.

"Mathematics is not a subject to be endured — it is a gift to be unwrapped. When students understand the 'why' behind the 'what,' they don't just learn math — they fall in love with it."
